As QZC approaches the end of another year, we are looking towards our Annual General Meeting in December, and to our program for 2024. It is in this context that we are launching our end of year fundraising appeal, which this year focuses on much-needed renovations to the zendo (or meditation hall) at Barellan Point. The support of members and friends has allowed us to address many of the critical maintenance and repair tasks that have been necessary to ensure the future sustainability of the zen centre, including the replacement of the retaining wall that protects the zen centre from the river below. Now, we hope to be able to make some much needed changes to enable the zen centre to support extended retreat practice, providing privacy for retreatants and insulating the zendo from noise elsewhere in the centre, by installing doors throughout the spaces where there are currently open archways. We are setting a fundraising target of $10,000, which will enable us to undertake this vital work, as well as some small repairs to accommodation and installation of handmade UV protection to screens to reduce temperatures in the zendo. As you know, we are honoured and delighted to be hosting Shodo Harada Roshi for his third visit to Australia in 2024, and we hope to have completed these works before the planned sesshin with Roshi in July. We are truly grateful for the ongoing generosity of our sangha community, and any and all donations are greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a donation, please find our bank details below: Account name: QZC Limited SWIFT/BIC code: QBANAU4B Account number: 22340172 BSB: 124 001 We would very much like to acknowledge your donation. In addition to the annual fundraiser, we also plan to maintain a list of items needed by the zen centre, in the hope that members and friends who wish to provide in-kind support may have items they would like to donate. The initial items we have identified, based on losses and damage sustained in the floods, are:
If you are able to help out with any of these items, please contact us and provide a photograph of the item - your support will be greatly appreciated. |
